FAQs

How do I book a counselling session?

You can contact me directly via email  at to.be.you@hotmail.com or there is a form here on my contact page.

Alternatively, you can go through my counselling directory profile;

https://www.counselling-directory.org.uk/counsellors/rebecca-perkins

I always do my best to get back to you as soon as possible, generally within a maximum of  2 working days, unless I am away on holiday.

My practice is open Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, with some emergency appointments available on Thursday.

Once a session time is booked, I will send you an email with a simple agreement which outlines my practice and asks for a few basic details about you, and  provides with directions of how to find the practice.

Sessions are 50 minutes long, but allow an hour for settling in time and finalising your next booking at the end.

There is no minimum or maximum number of sessions, we will always go with what you feel that you need. It can be helpful to have weekly sessions initially if possible, and we will review regularly, and reducing or finishing sessions if we feel that we have reached a natural time for change.

How long are the sessions and how many will I need?

Am I safe to talk about anything?

Sessions are completely confidential. The only reason I would have to share any information would be if I feel that you or someone you know is in danger of harm.

I keep very simple, coded notes, in accordance with GDPR.

If there is a situation where it would be useful to share some information with a third party, I would do so only with your express permission.

What if I have financial difficulties but desperately need support?

There is some space for concession work, please do get in touch so we can talk about it. Discounts are assessed and agreed on an individual basis, as long as there is proof provided.

How does online counselling work?

If you require online counselling, or a mix of both face to face and online, we can book a session as normal, then I will email you a link so that you can connect at the agreed time.

When working online, it is important that you are in a relaxed, private space where no one can hear you, with no distractions.

I always ensure that I am in a confidential space before logging on.

I can work on Teams, Whatsapp or Google Meet.

I appreciate that this can happen, however as my practice is busy, I do ask for the industry standard of 48 hours notice of cancellation if possible, as then the space can be filled.  Anything less than that will unfortunately incur the full fee, but this will not impact your ongoing sessions.

What happens if I need to cancel a session unexpectedly?

"I would like to thank you for all your support and time.
Our sessions really have had a positive impact on me, and have given me positive ways to cope"
