Hello.....

my name is Rebecca,

and I am an experienced, professional Counsellor.

After moving back to Britain following eleven wonderful years in Spain, I initially studied Nutrition. However, I soon realised that many people’s difficulties with food are rooted in psychology, rather than diet alone.

This led me to enroll on a  counselling course at my local college in 2019— and from that moment, I knew that I had found my life's calling. Having gained my degree, I now have over 3,000 hours counselling experience, working with clients from a wide range of ages, backgrounds and cultures. My experience and training, combined with my genuine drive to help others, underpins the way I practice.

I am passionate about the work I do and  committed to supporting clients through troubled times and through their personal growth. I am  not there to 'fix' you, I am there to walk beside you as you find your own unique solutions.

You are, after all, the one true expert of yourself.

WHY COUNSELLING?

What motivates me and why am I a counsellor?

I am a person who loves people; You may find me sat in the corner and chat to an elderly gentleman, because I am fascinated in his stories, or talking and playing with a five year old, because I love hearing their perspective on the world. People fascinate me, their difference, diversity, challenges and successes. How they love, what they have survived, and their incredible strength and resilience in the face of adversity.

In my earlier years, I always felt I wanted to "make things better", but it wasn't until I trained as a counsellor that I learnt that I didn't need to 'fix' things for people, in fact, that really wasn't helpful to them at all!

Throughout my training, I think the  biggest realisation for me has been the incredible power of being truly heard. I learnt to really listen, to witness, and experience a deep, empathic  understanding of people that, even though I have now gained many other tools to help people within my 'counsellor tool kit', still, it all comes back to what I think is the most important thing. ........

I don't mean sit in silence. I am highly empathic and an intuitive counsellor, I feel people's energy and use many different techniques to help people, depending on what I feel will work for each unique individual.
